Josh Short returns to Jacksonville Florida with a body of work inspired by travel, radio transmissions and American mythologies. Short’s assemblages are made from drawings, bone, steel, wood, and repurposed analog stereo equipment. These strange creations are brought to life by sounds made from field recordings, old movie dialog, and synthesizers. The conversation between sound, drawing and sculpture aims to let the viewer complete what ever relationship they have with American mythologies, and their own beliefs and desires.
Short has been traversing the country since 2012 gathering sound, creating pirate radio installations as well as creating drawings in textiles. We will be releasing our latest edition the evening of the opening, a limited run secret broadcast cassette tape with digital download password (edition of 50) along with a four color serigraph (edition of 50)!
